From Left to Right: Nandi (Selah's classmate), Miss Tachina (3rd grade teacher), Miss Megan Cannon (Selah's teacher), Selah, and Kristen Sensei (Japanese Teacher).
Selah recently graduated from her first grade class! She's done with school until the end of July. She was a "forest spirit" in the end-of-the-year play called George and The Dragon, where she twinkled across the stage, arms graceful yet flailing. When it was time for the play to proceed where George tames the Dragon, Selah was in the background pretending to eat the painted apples from the set decoration. I asked Miss Megan after the play is this was supposed to be Selah's part, with a smile. Miss Megan laughed and said Selah had clearly improvised her part and with great creativity!
This summer, while she's out of school, Selah decided she wanted to learn two things: How to Swim, and Sign Language. With a gulp (and attitude of positive determination), I set out to find some great books on Sign Language, and we've begun our study of silent communication, beginning with the alphabet. Selah has a fantastic memory, and this morning she requested breakfast by spelling C-E-R-E-A-L. As for swimming lessons, we've decided to hit the public swimming pool two miles from home twice weekly, and thankfully, the weather is spectacular.
Along with swimming and signing, Selah has also begun riding her bike everyday, and continues to draw with great agility and imagination. She wishes everyone a 'super great' summer, and lots of blessings. :0)
